Julia Zelg, a 24-year-old YouTuber and singer met political correspondent Eileen De Freest, age 61, on Tinder.

It was love at first sight and since their first date, less than a year ago, the couple have become inseparable.

Julia told Barcroft TV: “We will not let any haters stop us because we just love each other”.

“When I saw Eileen in person for the first time, I was just in awe of her because she is just the most gentle and lovely person ever.

“She made me feel so good and she is just captivating.”

Taking their unconventional relationship to the next level, Julia and Eileen have moved in together and maintain the age gap has never been an issue.

Eileen said: “We are together because we are together and the age gap is something a reality but it is not something that I was looking for.

“I wasn’t looking for a relationship at all, in fact, I was very happy on my own.”

Julia added: “I really think that age is just a number.

“It’s really great and refreshing to find someone that is such a good match with me and is so similar to me in many ways.”

Their age gap has never been an issue for the couple even when they’re mistaken for having a grandmother-granddaughter relationship.

Eileen explained: “We do get that thing a lot about mommy and grandmother.

“It does offend me but I kind of understand that this person’s frame of reference is very narrow and I feel sorry for them.

“But it does make me upset a little bit.”

Julia added: “I think we get hate comments mostly because of our age difference but also because we are gay and there are unfortunately still a lot of homophobic people out there.”

The two aren’t shy sharing intimate details of their love life and say their sex life is great.

Eileen told Barcroft TV: “Julia and I have an extraordinarily good sex life, I have never been with somebody who is as exciting as her and fun as hell.”

Julia said: “I used to think that most older women wouldn’t be very sexually active or wouldn’t be that interested in sex life but I guess I was wrong.”

Before flying to Julia’s home country Brazil to meet Julia’s mother for the very first time, Julia admitted: “Some people think it is a bit weird that my mom is a few years younger than Eileen but it doesn’t bother me I think it is just a number.”

Julia’s mother, Ingrid Sellge - who is eight years younger than her daughter’s partner – was extremely anxious about meeting Eileen for the first time.

But after meeting her daughter’s older lover at the airport, she told Barcroft TV: “I didn’t imagine that Julia would have a girlfriend so much older but it’s not a problem for me.

“I enjoyed a lot meeting Eileen and I was already used to the idea - and her being happy, for me is what matters.”

Julia and Eileen say that they have received nothing but support from both their families.

Julia said: “[My family] know that Eileen makes me so happy, so that is all that matters, and that is what they want, they just want my happiness.

“I know things have moved quite fast with us but sometimes it is just the way it is.”

Despite their almost 40-year gap, the pair are planning their future together and have learnt to not let the judgement from others bother them and their romance.

Julia said: “Sometimes we do worry about the future, Eileen most likely won’t live as long as me, it just really breaks my heart to think that we can’t grow old together.”

Eileen responded: “We’ve talked about this, of course, but it’s a very hard thing to talk about.

“I thought, long and hard, should I not get in this relationship?

“Do I have a responsibility to turn around and say no?

“Because there is such a big age difference.

“Or does one just grab love and just take the responsibility of the knowledge in this situation?”

She continued: “We are together because we love each other, as Julia very beautifully said once: ‘We couldn’t not be together’.”
