AMOOSEing scene: The mother and her calf gave a free car wash

John Marriot, 46 was leading a photography workshop at Jasper National Park in Canada when he noticed the huge animal licking his car.

John was unable to get to his vehicle and retrieve his kit

Naturally, John wanted to get his full camera kit out of his vehicle but the moose cow was bigger than his SUV so he decided against it.

The moose were attracted to the salt from the road

John, who lives in Alberta, Canada, shot the footage in October of this year, he said: “I was leading a photography workshop when I spotted the cow and calf licking my car.

Unheard of: In more than 20 years of wildlife photography John has never seen this happen

"It was incredible to watch - I even asked them to clean up around the mirror as this was clearly a free moose car wash.

Kodak moment: John was leading a photography workshop when they managed to catch the moose carwash

"I wanted to get into my car to get my full gear out and film this properly but the cow wasn't having that.”

Get right in there: John shouted instructions at the Moose

"It was bigger than my SUV so I kept my distance and filmed from my phone – which is the best I could do.

You moosed a bit: The moose did not do a full job

"I've been a wildlife photographer for more than 20 years and I have never seen anything quite like this.

Going elsewhere: John had to take his car to a real car wash after the incident

“They were attracted to the road salt that had got caught up in the mud and didn’t really make my car much cleaner.

Big moose: The cow was taller than John's Nissan Pathfinder SUV

“It wasn’t a great car wash but it was free so I guess I will take that.”
