Peek-a-boo! Dinozzo the fox peers into the home

The adorable three-week-old fox was found next to its dead mother who had been killed in a road traffic accident.

What are you looking at? The adorable cub was found by the side of the road

He was inspected by a vet and brought to the home of Werner and Angelika Schmaing, from Oberscheld, Germany, where they care for a dog, a cat and two piglets.

He was taken in by Werner and Angelika Schmaing where they helped to care for the orphan

It was there the tiny fox named Dinozzo found its new mother – a Collie called Ziva.

Tentative steps: Poor Dinozzo was left without a mother after a dreadful road accident

Under its watchful care the fox has gone from strength to strength – and has now begun to believe it is one of the dogs.

Walkabout: But now Dinozzo has gone from strength to strength after an unlikely surrogate

Dinozzo has also formed an unlikely friendship with the couple’s Bengal cat Leopald.

Hi mum! Dinozzo has found a surrogate carer in the caring Collie Ziva

Werner, 51, works as a housekeeper in a local school and has raised a number of orphans in his home including two piglets.

Playtime: The pair are inseparable and the Ziva has taken to her role

He said: “Ziva and Leopold fell in love with the little fox immediately.

“The fox has gotten used to getting in and out of the house through the cats door.

The adorable fox has also made friends with the Bengal cat - and even uses the cat flap

“We’ve decided to let him live like any other fox outside the house.”

Terrible twosome: Dinozzo has found a new family

And Ziva has taken her new role as mother in her stride.

Best friends: Dinozzo and Leopold are friends - despite being different animals

Werner said: “The interaction of animals is very much like siblings in a family.

Tender care: Ziva is a new mum for the little fox

“They are mostly peaceful, often playful and sometimes tired - sleeping together in one place.

“Our collie acts as a foster mum for the little ones.”
