Religious man: Thom discovered Jesus after stealing a bible in prison

Thom Miller is in the process of building a huge house for his two wives with each of them occupying their own wing that he will split his time between.

He currently lives in a smaller home and has each of his wives spend three nights with him before the other one takes her turn.

Thom, a former mafia enforcer turned pastor, had talked about polygamy with his first wife Belinda but it was seven years before they settled on 19-year-old Reba Kerfootruba joining their family.

Now the trio plans to raise Reba and Thom’s future biological child together as a family.

Reba said: “At first my family thought that what we were doing was not right. They didn’t think it was proper for me to be with a man that was already married.

Wedded bliss: His marriage to Reba has not been recognised by the state but he considers them to be man and wife

“But they started to come around and now they’re happy as they know I am happy.

“One friend said it was weird for me to marry him when he has another wife but said she would support me no matter what.

“Having to share him with another woman can be kind of upsetting at times.

“But I try not to get jealous and when it’s not my time with Thom I just try to occupy myself by going out friends.

“The baby will have two moms which I’m okay with.”

New home: Thom is building a huge house with a wing for each of his wives

Belinda said: “We kind of make jokes about the baby and where he or she will sleep because we’ve got two separate master suites - in case mommy Reba needs a break then mommy Belinda can have the baby for the night."

“I’m definitely excited there’s going to be a little human part of us, part of the family,” Thom added.

The couple got close to Reba while volunteering at a soup kitchen and she moved in with them shortly after.

Thom was a friend of Reba’s family and knew her when she was younger but claims he was surprised when they met again and she had become a woman.

Thom added: “I’ve known Reba for a long time, then she moved away and I hadn’t seen her for years.

Young at heart: Many of Reba's friends have expressed concerns about her polygamous relationship
Taking turns: Each of Thom's wives spends three nights with him at a time before they swap

“I caught something because she hugged me and I wanted to keep hugging her and I realised, wow, I’m really appreciating this woman.”
The pair married at Thom’s church just seven years after he had the exact same ceremony with Belinda.

He said: “The whole situation works for all three of us.

“I am the only one who is allowed to have more than one partner and both my wives understand and appreciate that.

“I think polygamy benefits everyone because my wives get to have a much larger family – it means they always have a friend with them.

“There have been arguments in the past and at times there can be flares of jealousy but we manage to make it work.

“Sexually I have no preference and look forward to my time alone with both wives.”

Family affair: Belinda and Reba claim they are like sisters who never fight over Thom

Belinda, 44, said: “I wanted to have more of a family - having another lady in the house not only makes our family whole but individually it’s a beautiful thing because it’s like having a sister around.

“Thom is the love of my life and Reba is the blessing of my life so it all works.”

However, not everyone is so thrilled with the arrangement.

Thom does not have the full support of his congregation in his hometown of Mansfield, Ohio but makes no secret of his alternative lifestyle.

He said: “I don’t preach about polygamy but I feel it is a very Christian lifestyle.

Fight the power: Thom is willing to go to court to have his second marriage recognised by the state

“I have no problem with homosexuals but I think it’s wrong that their marriage is now recognised by the state but my second marriage is not.

“I’m going to try and fight the bigotry of that – this is America and my wives and I have the right to live anyway we please - providing we’re not hurting anybody.”

Thom completely turned his life around when he was released from prison in 1991 after serving seven years for stabbing a man in a bar fight.

He had worked as an enforcer for the mob in Cleveland, Ohio, and while he has never shot anybody he claimed to have put a gun in a man’s mouth while chasing down a mafia debt.

He added: “I knew I had to make a change, I wanted to live a more Christian life.

Happy families: The trio will raise Reba and Thom's baby together when it is born

“I actually stole a bible while I was in prison and read it from cover to cover – it changed my life.

“I met Belinda around eight years ago and we talked about polygamy but it didn’t really work out.

“They’re called sister wives because they get on so well and make sure the household is running smoothly.

“We sometimes have arguments but show me a relationship that doesn’t.

“We just want the opportunity to live together and have our marriages recognised.”
