Gerkary Bracho Blequett can touch her elbow, her ear lobe and even her eye by stretching out her lizard-like tongue.
The 20-year-old, from Ocala, Florida, reached over a million views on YouTube after posting videos of her tongue-tricks online.
And now she is planning to enter the record books to claim the title of World’s Longest Tongue.
Gerkary said: “I first realised it was really long when my friends wanted me to show them if I could lick my eye and I tried it and it was shocking.
“I was stretching it for like a week so it could get longer to see if I could touch my ear. I managed to reach my ear and I can also lick my elbow.”
Gerkary receives a range of reactions to her serpent-like appendage.
She said: “People’s reactions are different, some people react like ‘that’s nasty’, some people react like ‘woah I wanna see it again’, and some people just get scared.
“I don’t mind, I don’t mind getting negative reaction; there’s different people and they have their views.”
However, Gerkary is not comfortable with some of the more sordid responses she receives – and is happy to dish out a tongue-lashing.
She said: “I don’t like he fact that some men think because I’m posting long tongue pictures they can talk to me in a sexual way.
“It makes me uncomfortable and it’s kind of nasty. The first thing they say is ‘your boyfriend should be really lucky’ and I’m like ‘I don’t have a boyfriend’.”
Now Gerkary is becoming famous for her long tongue after posting pictures online.
She said: “I posted a picture on Instagram and I got a lot of followers.
“They didn’t believe it was real, so I posted a video so they could see it’s true.
“I got a million views on Youtube and 6-7000 on Instagram – it was a lot of people and a lot of messages telling me to post more pictures and videos.
“A lot of people are like oh my god you’re the girl from that video.
“It’s crazy, it makes me feel famous in a way - it’s good.”
Now Gerkary wants to make her title official and hopes to claim the top spot in the Guinness World Records book.
And her mum, Karina Blequett, couldn’t be prouder.
She beamed: “I think she is going to win the longest tongue record. It is so exciting. I’m telling everyone and I’m showing her video to everyone.
“She is going to be very famous with her long tongue.”
Gerkary would need to have an official measurement of her tongue from tip to closed top lip to knock off the current record holder, Nick Stoeberl, whose tongue measures 3.97 inches.
